An excerpt from Ski Racing Magazine lauds Julia Ford:
Even Lindsey Vonn commented that she'll "keep an eye on" Julia after Ford's performances at the 2009 U.S. Alpine Championships.
Ford caught everyone's attention with her 7th place national giant slalom(on her 19th birthday, no less) and downhill results and an 8th place in slalom, and then finished off her season with a couple of podium finishes at the FIS Spring Series races at Mammoth Mountain, edging out some of the bigger names.
Ford also barely missed the podium at this year's junior worlds in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, taking 4th in the super combined. She notched about a dozen top -10s in each discipline on the Nor-Am circuit, including a win in super combi and podiums in GS and slalom. She also earned her first Europa Cup points with a 27th place finish in slalom in Melchee Frutt, Switzerland.
Needless to say, this teenager is going to be on everyone's radar.
Congratulations to Julia from all of us at Okemo Mountain School!!
