OMS Copper Trip #1 Underway

The first Copper Colorado trip is underway and everyone is having a blast. Tomorrow the Alpine Racers will be headed into the gates and brushes for the first time. The weather has been perfect the whole trip so far. Today the J3s skied Loveland and basically had the hill to their selves. Tomorrow the crew is back at Copper for lane training. Next week OMS will be training along side the US Women’s Ski Team early in the morning before the mountain opens to the public. So far the trip has been a great experience for all and promises to stay that way. Lastly as a treat the crew will be headed to Breckenridge to see the premiere of the New Warren Miller Film "Playground" on Saturday.

The Freestyle group had their first day on snow today at Breckenridge and tomorrow they will be hitting rails under the lights at Keystone.

Five Month Program Begins

Welcome back everyone! Yesterday was the first day of our five month program. For the first time in months the school is full of fresh faces. Everyone is excited to be starting a new season at Okemo Mountain School. While the snowboarders and freestyle skiers are hard at work in the classroom, the ski racers are har d at work outside at dryland training.

Today, the J3 group is headed out to Copper Colorado for their pre-season ski camp. Two days later the freestyle skiers will be heading to Breckenridge for their pre-season camp, and then near the end of the month, the J2s and J1s will be traveling to ski race and train out west as well. Finally when everyone is home the snowboard team will be headed out to Colorado for competitions and training right before Christmas break.

Along with the new year comes plans for a new school. Wendy brought in the sketch of the new school for everyone to see today. It’s exciting to see where the school is going. Fresh faces, fresh energy and fresh ideas for our school are the theme for today. See you at school.

Trainer Wins!

Myles Trainer '11 won the last race of the season. The track at New Hampton School in New Hampton New Hampshire was a little wet and very technical, which aided Trainer in his win on Wednesday. All season the Mt. Bike team has trained mostly on single-track Mt. Bike trails that are very challenging. All of the hard work for the season paid off as Trainer rolled over the line first after four laps of racing.  As for the rest of the team, Dale Talkington '10 came in 6th respectively in the C category. Dillon Normyle, Chris Teitsma and Thacher Karner all had mechanical problems during the race and had to back out. As for the season as a whole, everyone on the team improved a lot throughout the race series. Everyone is now looking forward to winter and their winter sports.
