Local snowboarding legend Hannah Teter, a Belmont–native and Olympic gold medal champion in the half pipe, recently announced that she will donate all her snowboard earnings from the upcoming season to her charity, Hannah's Gold, and the organization World Vision.
The former Black River High School and Okemo Mountain School graduate, has competed in such national and world events (and won a few) as the Winter X Games, Grand Prix, U. S. Open, Worlds, Winter Gravity Games and of course, the 2006 Winter Olympics in which she won her gold medal.

Through the world charity organization World Vision, sales from Hannah's Gold helps provide funds to sponsor Kirindon, a town of 56,000 people in Kenya.
The idea to donate her earnings came while Hannah was rehabilitating from a serious knee injury after the Winter Olympic Games in 06’.

National Honor Society

A GUIDELINE FOR ADMISSION TO THE NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY AT OKEMO MOUNTAIN SCHOOL

Students are selected for membership in NHS, it is not an entitlement. Students do not apply for membership in the National Honor Society. Instead, they provide information to be used by the local selection committee to support their candidacy for membership. Membership in NHS is only offered to students after the Faculty Council at Okemo Mountain School determines they have met the standards for selection established by both the local chapter and the national constitution. Thus membership is not based solely on academic achievement. NHS is more than just an honor roll and the extent to which our local chapter emphasizes the other components of the selection process (leadership, service, and character) is included in the selection process guidelines. The National Honor Society promotes appropriate recognition of students who reflect outstanding accomplishments in the areas of SCHOLARSHIP, LEADERSHIP, CHARACTER AND SERVICE.

The following are the minimum requirements necessary for an individual to be considered for admission to the National Honor Society:

Victory Valentine Camp 2009

VICTORY VALENTINE CAMP - February 9th-13th:
Okemo Mountain School will be holding its annual Valentine camp this February 9TH-13TH, 2009. Your child will have the opportunity to train each morning with our coaches and students.  After morning training sessions they will return to Okemo Mountain School where they will continue with schoolwork sent from their home school.  The students will meet daily with the Head of School, Wendy Neal and the tutors that will be monitoring their progress while they are with us.  This is a great opportunity for your child to see the commitment and dedication that is needed to make the next step in competitive ski racing, snowboarding or freestyle.

You will need to ask your child’s home school for a list of assignments that will need to be completed during the week.  Tests and quizzes can also be administered during the week.  Home schools can fax the assessments to 802-228-1511 or send them in a sealed envelope, which is the best option.  We will return work either in a packet at the end of the week or fax the work back as it is completed, whichever you prefer.

Okemo Mountain School is an approved independent academic institution for grades 7-12.  We are presently enjoying our 17th year of successful operation.  Over the years our students have been accepted into outstanding colleges and competed at high levels within their specific sport. . We are proud of what our staff and students have accomplished and we look forward to working with you during the Valentine Camp.

As you present this to your school, please do not hesitate to call me with any questions you may have.  My direct line is 802-228-1513 and my email is This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

On behalf of the faculty and staff of Okemo Mountain School, we look forward to providing you with an exceptional and different life experience.
